Author: Dorothy L. Sayers
Genre: Fiction (Detective)
Date Finished: May 30, 2010
This is the book that follows Gaudy Night. In the beginning of the book we get what we were promised at the end of the last, the marriage of Harriet and Lord Peter Wimsey.
Sayers describes this book as 'a love story with detective interruptions', which seems quite accurate. It is a lovely story, largely about the beginning of married life for Harriet and Peter. I found the previous book a bit of a slog to get through, but this one grabbed me and I read right through.
The Library - An Illustrated History
Author: Stuart A. P. Murray
Genre: Non-fiction (History)
Date Finished: May 5, 2010
This was an interesting history of the written word and the evolution of libraries. It talked about clay tablets, the library of Alexandria, Caves of a Thousand Buddhas, libraries as private book collections eventually leading to state funded libraries.
