This was not a special book. Do not read it. It's the story of a shallow, self absorbed, emotionally repressed boy who, much like Harry Potter, is invited to a school of magic. It's a university of magic actually, so there are fraternities, sex, drugs and alchol. The book meanders on and he eventually graduates, wasting his time drinking and partying until he stumbles by accident into a magical world (think the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe) and a quest. But since it took nearly 3 quarters of the book to find the quest, and nearly the remaining quarter of the book for him to mope around after the quest, there really wasn't much meat to the story.
